I would not recommend this university in general. It is not what I expected it to be, they are very unorganized, some classes (and the professors that teach them) truly look like jokes. However, some courses are good, very practical and real-world related, so it’s not all too bad. The buildings are nice, recently renovated (at least in Reggio Emilia). However, the student administration is the worst I have ever experienced.

Regarding the university itself, the bureaucratic issue is quite important, to the chaos that is usually the Italian bureaucracy. I had no problem for the Learning Agreement, to change my subjects. Of course, the final schedules are not out until almost when the semester begins, hence you have to vary the LA several times, to balance everything. As a detail, it is one of the few Italian universities without a dining room. The rest of the facilities are pretty good. As a detail for people who, like me, do History, it is one of the very few Italian Universities more specialized in Contemporary History than in Ancient History.
The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia is a beautiful environment, is characterized by a good organization, interesting courses of study and excellent preparation of teachers.
study rooms and libraries are well structured allowing a good preparation.
I am currently studying “Economics and public policies” (Master degree) at this University. The environment is really friendly and it’s easy to establish good relations with professors, who are very interested also in future paths of students. The Department of Economics “Marco Biagi” is well organised and timetables are respected. The facilities are pretty new and there is a library where it is possible to study until 9 pm. Moreover, it is always possible to stay in empty classes to carry out teamwork assignments. Professors are usually kind and helpful, but anyway demanding in order to prepare students for future challenges.
