University of Pécs (reviews)

First of all, I am an English speaking student who came to Hungary for an English programme. Out of maybe 15 professors, 2-3 speak comprehensible English, half of the rest struggle to read the powerpoint slides, and the other half just play a video they got from the internet. Secondly, university facilities are not free, gym, swimming pool, you have to pay for everything. They can even chase you out of the football pitch for whatever reason they want. Thirdly, the dormitories are noisy, over crowded and facilities have been broken ever since I came here, and they even have the audacity to jack up the price. By the way I have been to one of the Hungarian dormitories, needless to say, nice, quiet and clean, everything works, and no, you cannot apply for a hungarian dormitory if you’re not hungarian.

The University offers excellent education to students with updated material. Professors, most of the time, are open-minded and helpful. It is obvious they are really interested in what they are teaching and know what they are talking about.
The one and only downside to the University is the lack of help from the administrative staff.

There are lots of scholarships for the students and lots of opportunities to improve and find challenges. The environment is really friendly and the professors are really good at teaching. There is also like dual training program which makes you experience really life job.

My university years were made harder here by some boring and unfair teachers and some administrative shenanigans, but it really helped me come out of my shell and be more sociable. I also had awesome teachers, so maybe I was just unlucky with the rest of them. The city is beautiful and because the faculties are in different places, you can always take in the scenery. It’s not as hard as some unis in the capital, but it’s still pretty hard to finish here. Just have more determination than I had and you’ll do fine. 🙂

I really appreciate the University Culture of treating International Students in a very humble and warm environment. If there is anything that I would like to change in my previous University is to create equal opportunities for students from different faculties of the same University.

The program here gives a valuable diploma all around the globe. It’s true, you will study a lot from the great professors but the colourful international student life will compensate you for everything: libraries, clubs, restaurants, pools and hiking in the hills. It’s just a Paradise.
