The Johannnes Gutenberg University Mainz is one of the ten largest universities in Germany with 36,500 students and counting. It was established in 1477 and named after the printer Johannes Gutenberg.
The university has a wide range of study programs to offer: from law and economics, humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, medicine and dentistry and visual arts and sports.
The JGU located on a campus close to the city center with a large scale research facilities including research reactor TRIGA and the ellectron accelerator MAMI that attracts scientist around the world. There is constant modernization for the improvement of excellent teaching and research. Currently, there are 30 scientific collections with its central library, nine departmental libraries and University Archives and aiming to create a virtual research environment to enable scientist to work together.

A good and renowned university

I liked studying at the Johannes Gutenberg University. Sometimes the organization was not the best but in general, it is still better than average. It is also possible to negotiate deadlines and sometimes even time table with lecturers and professors. As far as recommendation concerned, I can only speak about conference interpreting, and in this case, the university should be the choice #1.
