The ub is known by the diversity of students in it. In each class you can meet international students from all over the world. For my program which is computer science I find that the technical part is solid and provide all the basics. However, I dislike the fact that I am studying some subjects which are not interesting to me as a geek such as electronics.
View moreOverall, the university is good. I am pleased to communicate with the international department: they have been in touch since the moment of admission and were ready to help with any question. Teachers are very friendly, try to submit material interestingly, give a lot of practical tasks.
I am studying at the Master-PIECE program, which is aimed at international cultural projects. The program is taught in English, but there are subjects in French. Now I understand that it is advisable to have the level of French at least B1 so as not to miss the material. Also it might be a problem to find a student job or an internship, if you speak English only.
Pros: excellent library, good hostels, cheap dinners in the CROUS dining room, many activities for international students, many sports options, there are French courses (only 1.5 hours a week), it is easy to find new friends. As part of my program, we often travel at the expense of the university.
Cons: Frequent schedule changes, too few hours of French and items in French in an English-language program. The teacher who is responsible for student internships does not speak English at all and does not answer the mail if you send a letter translated into French. So we are looking for internships ourselves!
University is located in Dijon, which is a very nice city. Here are a lot of cutural activities and interesting places to visit. We travelled to Paris – it’s just 1,5h by the express train. So, in UB you can enjoy France every day 🙂 Overall – I recommend the University, but you need to be prepared to meet the difficulties, if you don’t speak French.
View moreI really like the University of Burgundy (UBFC in my case). The international department welcomes students very cordially, helps with any questions, including opening a bank account. They gave me a good hostel. Meals are provided for only 3.30 euros. For international students, parties and meetings are organized to help adapt.
I am from Russia, and, in my opinion, studying here is more effective: in my program, they actively help us to look for internships, and there are not so many classes. The university also organizes trips for us to other cities in Burgundy. Of the minuses, I would note that sometimes the class schedule changes at the last moment and makes serious adjustments to personal plans.
This program was interesting, but as I was advancing with the courses, I felt the overload, intensity, and congestion of topics and deadlines. This could be because only one year is dedicated to classes in Dijon and the second year is dedicated to an exchange semester abroad, thesis presenting, and an internship semester. The topics covered during the first year were very informative but we only got the highlights as we had to go through a lot of them and did not get the chance to go in-depth into some of the topics that really interest us. The interculturality in this master’s program is really good, we had students from all over the world and we got to discover our interculturality throughout the year. The professors during the first year were diverse and had a lot of information for us, but on the other hand, some courses with some professors did not fulfill our expectations. The program directors were understanding of each person’s situation and kept the feedback window open.
View moreMy university is a good university. The teaching I received was great on the bachelor degree level but could be improved at the master’s degree level. The teachers and staff are not to blame but the cuts are. The buildings are old and would need some repairs but I have an overall very good impression on my studies there. I would recommened the university of burgundy to anyone because it’s a safe place and evironnement where knowledge and teaching are very important.
