The idea to create an internationally renowned school of economics within a public university first came to Jean-Jacques Laffont, a world-class economist, in 1979. Around 30 years later, his vision became reality. The Toulouse School of Economics (TSE) was created. It is a school within Toulouse 1 University Capitole. In 2011, TSE was established as the department of economics.
