Kotebe University of Education - KUE (reviews)

Kotebe University of Education is a well-known teacher training institution in Ethiopia that offers pre-service and in-service programs for teachers. At the time I attended, it was only considered a college and I attended as part of the extension division. The extension division is only taught at night-time and I worked towards a mathematics degree. The university aims to produce competent and committed teachers who will make significant contributions to the education system of Ethiopia. The teaching system involved theoretical and practical components, including classroom lectures, laboratory sessions, workshops, and field experiences. The curriculum focuses on developing critical thinking skills, subject matter expertise, and communication skills among its students. They used a variety of teaching methods and technologies to enhance the effectiveness of their teaching. What struck me the most was how passionate my teachers were about what their subject – particularly in my maths classes. The campus was nice and the professors were kind but didn’t allow any misbehavior. As strict as the college was, especially during certain lectures, I learned a lot from my experience and I wouldn’t change a thing. Overall, the institution helps its students grow as individuals and the teaching system is designed to prepare future teachers who are skilled, knowledgeable, and committed to improving the quality of education in Ethiopia. I have no doubt about the university’s ability to foster the leaders of the next generation and I’m proud to be part of its legacy.
