The university is famous health education and and it is public university not government university and has around 5 branches with good building as informatics student I observed that it has many ICT Lab rooms and easy yo practice even I haven’t personal computer.
Each year the university accept many new students to the campus with warm greeting and the society is very good since accepting the new camping students as their child, they invite to come their home at the time of holiday
Strong Medical and Health Sciences Programs – UoG has a well-established reputation in medicine, nursing, and public health, producing skilled healthcare professionals.
Commitment to Community Service – The university is actively involved in public health initiatives and has a strong disability inclusion program, making education accessible to more students.
Historical and Cultural Significance – Located in Gondar, a city rich in Ethiopian history, giving students access to a unique cultural and historical environment.
Expanding Academic Offerings – While it started as a health-focused institution, UoG now offers engineering, business, and technology programs, increasing its impact.
International Collaborations – The university partners with global institutions, improving research, student exchange programs, and overall academic quality.
What I Dislike / Areas for Improvement:
Limited Global Recognition – Compared to some top African universities, UoG is not as well-known internationally. More efforts in global rankings, research visibility, and academic exchange could improve this.
Resource Constraints – Like many universities in Ethiopia, UoG faces funding and infrastructure challenges, affecting research, laboratory equipment, and classroom facilities.
Crowded Classrooms & Faculty Shortages – Due to increasing student enrollment, class sizes can be large, sometimes limiting individual attention from lecturers.
Limited Course Variety in Some Fields – While expanding, some programs (especially in technology and engineering) are still developing compared to leading global institutions.
