In my opinion, studying at this university brings peace to one’s life more than anything since my degree only requires me to be in class 3 hours a day, which generates a greater capacity to adapt the schedules of my extracurricular activities.
View moreMy experience at UIDE’s Medical School was largely positive. The program is comprehensive, offering a solid foundation in both basic sciences and clinical practice. The professors were generally well-trained and accessible, always willing to provide additional support when needed. The university boasts modern facilities, including well-equipped classrooms and laboratories, although I feel there could be more emphasis on clinical exposure from the earlier years of the program. The library and resources are adequate, but I believe better access to digital resources and scientific databases would be beneficial for students. The university environment is inclusive, with a diverse student body that creates a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. While the university offers valuable professional development opportunities, such as internships and clinical placements, I found that some of these could have been better organized to maximize their impact. Despite these areas for improvement, I would recommend UIDE to prospective medical students. The university provides a solid education and ample opportunities for professional growth, and I am confident that it will continue to evolve and improve in key areas, making it a great choice for those pursuing a medical career.
View moreIt is a good University. It has lots of green areas, as well as modern buildings.
The schedule is appropiate depending on which career you are studing, although, it is not near the city.
The institution has free buses lines, so it is relatively easy to get there.
Being a medical student from the UIDE is a privilege. This is both because of its cost and the quality of the program itself. You can feel from day zero that you are part of a program that cares about you and your learning experience, that is following your progress and catching early struggles you might present. Although being in Spanish, the program includes a lot of readings in English and you get the chance every semester to take a unified exam either in Spanish or English (NBME). The quality of the doctors, the good leadership from the faculty members, and the high quality of the classmates make this program the best one in Ecuador and one of the best in Latin America. Graduates usually continued their studies abroad, being the USA and Spain the top destinations. You can make an international rotation while you are a student, and thanks to the good networking of the University these are usually at top universities/hospitals. The downside of being this exigent is the mental health burden, which is currently not the rule but a few people struggle with the rhythm the program imposes. Only universities with a perfect % of approval of the National Certification Exam and with a 92% approval rate for USMLE takers, higher than the average of USA universities.
Overall, great University.
View moreI think that it should improve the way of teaching since the teachers are not updated with the knowledge and this is bad for the students since they do not give us the necessary bases to be able to continue with other studies in the future.
