I really like Los Andes, however, id prefer a more diverse university. But it’s also because of Colombia and its lack of foreigners. Nevertheless, I consider the campus is awesome, the best in the country to be honest and the academic staff is great.
View moreI liked my current experience at this university because it is really practical for the students, has a good value deal, the excellent quality of the teachers, the futuristic design of the university and the colourful views of it
View moreThe MSc. in Biomedical Sciences was a program that existed before the Biomedical Engineering Department came up. This program was between two Universities: Universidad de Los Andes, Mechanical Department and Universidad del Rosario, Medicine Faculty.
I received a lot of support from both while selecting the subjects I wanted to take, We had a problem with one of the professors because he wanted us to quit, because we were not engineers; even though the program involved our profiles.
This MSc. Disappeared in 2014.
The PhD in Sciences program is very complete, the professors know a lot about different subjects and you can learn a variety of matters. They allow you to reach a point in your research where knowledge is new to humanity, that is the final aim of a PhD. The thing I liked the most about the program is that it is mandatory to go to another country to make at least 6 months of research with another research group. They also support you financially.
They could improve the support and time each professor can give to each student. The thing about doing a PhD is that it is hard, and most of the job you will have to figure out how to do it by yourself. This is not a problem of Universidad de Los Andes, it is worldwide, and I wish I had the support I needed before I felt completely lost. Many PhDs have this issue around the world, I wish I had known all those things before starting the program. Now I am trying to help more students, so they won’t feel alone or lost during this professional step.
View moreThe programme fulfills the expectations. The professors are well prepared and it is interesting that the theoretical classes are complemented with laboratory sections. The academic level of the university is very high and the installations are superb.
View moreThe University of the Andes has an incredible campus. It is large, has spaces (both open and closed) for various types of activities and is aesthetically pleasing. On the other hand, the electronic resources of the Andes is very extensive and very rich in information. Every time you need to find an article or a book about something it is very likely that it is either in the university database or in the library. Now, I think that the academic curriculum has very positive things. For example, it has a logical and structured order that allows students to obtain the necessary knowledge, according to the semester in which they are. In addition, the classes are in accordance with the learning objectives. Finally, the teachers of the Andes are of high quality, since a great majority have the disposition to teach, the necessary knowledge and they are pleasant people with their students.
View moreIt is a good university, very research focused. It has made a name for itself that helps when you are applying for jobs. They promote independence and autonomy, although guidance is available at all times. It is an expensive university, you need to be really sure if its good for you.
