Many professors are incredibly talented, the university offers various forms of assistance to low-income students, and thanks to the research groups, much of what is learned goes beyond theory. The only difficulty I see at the moment is that, given the state’s lack of funding, the laboratories and other activities that require more budget than the university’s budget are not being experienced as they should be.
View moreStudying at the University of Antioquia has been a challenging and profoundly transformative experience. It is one of the most recognized public institutions in Colombia and offers a solid academic environment, highly qualified faculty, often with international training, and a wide range of programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
What I value most is its critical and humanistic approach, its free access to quality education, and the cultural richness of its main campus, where students from all walks of life come together. The libraries, research groups, and incubators are of an excellent standard and foster independent thinking.
However, the University also faces significant challenges. There are recurring administrative problems, such as delays in procedures, lack of student welfare coverage, and, at times, excessive bureaucracy. Furthermore, student strikes and protests, although legitimate, can disrupt the academic pace.
I recommend the University of Antioquia to those seeking a rigorous education, committed to public service, and with a transformative vocation. It’s a place where you not only learn a degree, but also learn to think critically about the country.
