    Challenging but Rewarding

As a student in the BBA program at Wilfrid Laurier, my experience has been a mix of academic challenge, social pressure, and strong campus support. The program is well-structured and offers valuable opportunities, especially through its highly regarded co-op program, but it also comes with some intense expectations. One of the most notable classes in first year is BU111, which sets the tone for the program. It’s a tough course, especially for students who are new to business or more introverted. The class size can be overwhelming, and participation-heavy tutorials add a social layer that can be difficult for quieter students. However, it does provide a strong foundation in business concepts and critical thinking. There’s a lot of pressure early on to get into the co-op program. While the co-op itself is an amazing opportunity, the competition and application process start almost right away, which can be stressful for students still adjusting to university life. The program tends to attract a very outgoing, Type-A crowd. For introverts, this can be challenging both in class participation and group work. There’s a strong emphasis on networking, presentations, and leadership early on, which is great for personal growth but can also be overwhelming. Laurier has excellent amenities—study spaces, modern buildings, helpful academic advisors, and mental health resources. The Lazaridis School is a beautiful space to study and work in, and the campus community overall is tight-knit and supportive. If you’re driven, enjoy competition, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, Laurier BBA could be a perfect fit. If you’re more introverted or unsure about your business path, it might take more effort to find your footing, but there are supports in place if you reach out. It’s a challenging but rewarding program.

    Outstanding Business program

Wilfrid Laurier University’s Business program is a great choice for students who want a mix of practical experience and academic learning. The co-op program is a huge advantage, offering real-world experience that helps you stand out. The professors are knowledgeable and approachable, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in clubs, case competitions, and networking events. The campus has a welcoming and supportive vibe, making it easy to connect with others and feel part of the community. I’d highly recommend Laurier to anyone looking to build a strong foundation for a career in business.

    Dedicated to creating hard-working students

I love Laurier as a university and I believe it provides amazing education. Unfortunately, when studying online, impacted the way we studied and support was not as accessible or as helpful. Most professors tried their best to support students the way they needed to be supported and I am excited to see how the university will continue to expand in this area. I took a year off and will be returning to either Laurier or Waterloo in the fall. I am excited to see the changes that have been made, and hopefully improve.

    The education experience

Through a lot of things I liked about this university in general stood up to its standards and reputation as far as going to class for the first time and post-secondary education a lot that I was afraid of a lot that I wasn’t but it was a very good learning experience and I would definitely recommend this university and any post-secondary education to anyone would like to further themselves and all themselves to more opportunity

    BBA - laurier

BBA is overall an okay program. There are a lot of flaws in the program. Many things assigned are pointless and cause students more stress then academic gain. I think there are a lot of kinks in the program but overall it is okay.

    Creating Leaders

Laurier has a great business program which could open various doors in the business industry. It not only teaches you theoretical content but also focuses on practical experience by conducting various case competitions. This enhances the critical thinking of all the business students. Moreover, if offers Canada’s biggest co-op program. Though its quite competitive, but it definitely gives you an upper edge in the industry. The professors are really helpful and are always ready to help you academically.

    Great program, minimal care

Although the program, professors and students themselves have provided me with many opportunities and values, the university lacks accommodation and care for the students. The food options are extremely sub-par, many of the recreational facilities would remain closed (not even due to covid regulations) and other aspects where I never felt a part of the community.
