The University of Toronto’s New Media major offers a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, perfectly aligning with the demands of today’s dynamic media landscape. The program provides a solid foundation in key areas such as Business and Management Skills, Marketing and Audience Development, Fundraising and Sponsorship, and Strategic Planning. These areas equip students with essential tools for impactful storytelling and effective audience engagement.
In addition to its academic focus, the program emphasizes project-based learning, offering extensive hands-on experience that goes beyond traditional media studies. Through practical exposure to tools and techniques such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), Canva, and professional video and photo shooting, I have developed a well-rounded skill set. This innovative and interdisciplinary approach has enhanced my ability to excel in the ever-evolving field of new media.
