The University of Toronto is a great choice for domestic students, as it offers strong value for the tuition costs. However, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for international students due to the high degree of self-directed learning and intense academic demands. This university is best suited for individuals who have clear goals and know what they want to achieve.
While UofT provides a wide range of resources, such as academic advising, exchange programs, and sports facilities, students must take the initiative to seek them out. With a large student body, personal attention and support from faculty are limited, which can make it challenging to feel supported. Additionally, there’s a lack of school spirit, and students often keep to themselves, creating a somewhat isolated atmosphere. For newcomers to the country, this can make socializing difficult.
Mental health is a concern at UofT, with the high-stress environment sometimes exacerbating issues. Overall, UofT demands dedication and resilience but offers rewarding opportunities for those who are proactive and self-motivated.
