My first year at UBC has been a bit of a roller coaster to be very honest. I started the year being very excited about the fact that I was going to live away from home, with my friends, in a new city. First term was a blur, in the sense that everybody was so excited to be finally on campus that there were so many things happening which made it immensely hard to have a grip on life during that time and somewhere or the other academics for me and most of my friends took a back seat. UBC is a great campus with amazing professors and great facilities but the first term did not let me have enough opportunities to explore that. One thing that I do not like about the resources is science advising. it is this body that counsels you about your degree and other aspects of your daily life. In the second term, I was facing a lot of issues and needed to contact advising for counselling but they seemed to be never available to take an appointment. Their online website was also full and they did not have an emailing system to them. That was a bit disappointing for me.
