The university of Ottawa is a great university due to many things. Not only the wide ranges of courses offered but also the cultural diversity is surreal. You will meet an incredible amount of people all over the word. Being able to talk to them and discovers many new cultures is amazing.
View moreThis university is in relatively good standing for a reason. Its facilities and accommodation are all the average student could hope for, and the opportunities provided to the students both local and international cannot be understated. However, that is not to say this university is without flaws; on the contrary, I believe there are many aspects that could greatly improve student life. The main flaw I find with the university is the distinct lack of flexibility in its rigid scheduling. The onus is placed upon the professors to make time for the students, rather than the university granting professors the time to schedule their classes and allowing more room for students to breathe. That flaw is relatively minor in the grand scheme of things, however, and for the most part, my experience at the university has been positive.
View moreThe University of Ottawa Bachelor of Arts with a focus in English Literature program was a very thorough course. Some courses were quite heavy, with several novels needing to be read in a short time – so be prepared to read, especially if you are taking multiple literature courses simultaneously. The professors were knowledgeable and helpful during office hours. The school itself could offer more engagement in terms of student engagement, with more opportunities for students to get to know each other, and more visibility of these events. The school itself is expansive in the downtown core of Ottawa and has some beautiful outdoor and indoor spaces to enjoy.
