As a student of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at KU Leuven’s Brussels campus, my experience has been both enriching and challenging. The programme offers a robust curriculum that provides in-depth insights into various facets of business, including economics, management, and entrepreneurship. The courses are well-structured and delivered by experienced faculty members, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.

However, it’s important to note that the Flemish examination system differs significantly from the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Cambridge systems. In the Flemish system, assessments are predominantly based on final exams, with limited emphasis on continuous assessment. This structure may require international students to adapt their study habits and time management strategies to align with the local academic expectations.

The programme is rigorous and demanding, necessitating consistent effort throughout the academic year. Success hinges on maintaining steady progress and dedicating sufficient time to study, as exams typically constitute the majority of the final grade. This approach may be a shift for students accustomed to more continuous forms of assessment.

Despite these challenges, KU Leuven’s BBA programme offers a high-quality education that is globally recognised. The university consistently ranks among the top institutions in Europe and the world, with notable alumni holding prominent positions across various sectors. For instance, Herman Daems, a KU Leuven alumnus, serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at BNP Paribas Fortis and has been a professor at KU Leuven. Additionally, Luc Sels, another alumnus, has held the position of Rector at KU Leuven, demonstrating the calibre of leadership the institution fosters.

Considering its academic rigour, international recognition, and the success of its alumni, I would recommend the KU Leuven BBA programme to prospective students. While the transition to the Flemish examination system may require some adjustment, the quality of education and the opportunities it presents make it a worthwhile endeavour for those committed to pursuing a business career.

KU Leuven offers a well-structured and comprehensive program for students studying MBA, providing a solid foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of the discipline. Located in the Flemish region of Beguim, KUL is known as the country’s “Place to Be,” attracting students from across Belgium and beyond. The MBA program in particular has gained recognition for its emphasis on analytical thinking, critical evaluation of economic systems.

What I Like:

What I Dislike:
– Large Class Sizes: Some programs can have large lecture sizes, which may limit individual interaction with professors and personalized attention.
– High Cost of Living: The cost of living in Leuven can be relatively high, which may pose challenges for some students managing their finances.
– Language Barrier: While many programs are offered in English, some administrative processes and local interactions may still be conducted in Dutch, which can be a hurdle for non-Dutch-speaking students.

Recommendation:
Overall, I would highly recommend KU Leuven for its academic quality, vibrant international community, and strong support services. Despite a few challenges, the university provides an enriching environment that prepares students for success in their future careers.

The university is great and carries a well-known ranking. The professors that teach at this university have a great academic background and are well-experienced. However, the grading scheme is not up to the mark.

KUL is a really good university, it’ll present good opportunities for you in the future.

The best part about attending this university is the habits you develop over time to make yourself a productive and high-achieving person. The worst part is organisations’ material can be hectic sometimes.

Due to the workloads, this university doesn’t give time for their students to have some free time to enjoy some uni life. Furthermore, they have very few spaces to study around the campus and everything closes by 7, and libraries aren’t open on the weekend. They hired one teacher for 5 of our subjects who’s not even capable of teaching one subject.

I highly recommend KU Leuven as it will provide you with a high-level education at a very affordable price and in a great location. It is an excellent choice for both undergraduate and master programs. The university provides a huge selection of programs and is full of international students, which creates a great environment for self-development.

This university offers a good range of programmes with well-suited courses. I only wish this university had a better library where you can study. There’s nothing to dislike about this university, it’s also highly ranked.

I would suggest more credit works throughout the semester that contribute to our grades other than just a 100% graded exams

I do not regret at all having come to Belgium to study, more specifically, KUL! It is true that the exams are super difficult but they also prepare you well before taking them. Overall all it is an amazing place to study.
