Do I need IELTS?

If you are not a native speaker of English, you don’t have another valid certificate, or you have never previously studied in English, and need a visa to study in the UK, you will probably need to take it. However, some universities offer a pre-sessional language course to all international students that are conditionally accepted to their programmes. Others may ask you to sit an exam or undergo a Skype interview.

Do all international students need IELTS to study in the UK?

The UK government requires international applicants to have some proof of English proficiency. If you are applying to a university that does not require IELTS, let them know that you need documentation to support your visa request.
