Rennes School of Business is located in the historic town of Rennes, the capital of Brittany. This is one of France’s most popular student cities, but why else do students choose to study abroad in France at Rennes SB?
International students at Rennes SB can choose from 14 master’s degrees and two bachelor’s degrees taught in English, including a Bachelor’s in Management or International Affairs, as well as specialised Master’s programmes ranging from Luxury to Finance, and the new MSc in International Music Business.
To find out what it’s like to be an international student at a business school in France, we heard from three students – two from India and one from the US. Here’s why they chose to study abroad in France at Rennes School of Business.

Why study abroad in France at Rennes School of Business?
Expand your international network

There are over 100 nationalities represented on the Rennes SB campus, with students travelling from around the world to study on one of the school’s English-taught business programmes.
Shubhangi Vyas from Delhi, India, who is studying an MSc in Digital Marketing Management, says the multicultural community at Rennes was a big reason for choosing the school.
“I get to meet people from diverse backgrounds, diverse countries. Every day you learn something new. It’s a really enriching experience.”
“Forcing myself into a different culture was something I’ve always wanted to do,” says Valerie Rendon. She moved from California to Rennes to study a Bachelor’s in Management.
“I looked into the school, and I loved the fact that they were very diverse and they have people from all over, you get to meet so many new people and work with them as well.”
Experience a rich campus life at a business school in France
There’s a rich student life to explore across Rennes SB’s two campuses: Rennes and Paris. This includes numerous opportunities for incoming international students in France to meet one another and form connections with the school’s French students. Across both campuses, there are over 20 student associations to join, and more than 200 student events are held each year.
When she first joined Rennes SB, Valerie joined a school trip to Disneyland Paris, organised by Well’come, the international student association. “We basically hung out with a bunch of people from school at Disneyland. It was pretty cool. I got to meet a couple of new people as well,” she says.
“You have many different opportunities to connect with new students from different programmes. You really just say ‘Hi’ and then become friends with many different people,” Valerie adds.
If you’re looking to connect specifically with French students at Rennes SB – perhaps to better integrate with French culture or practice your French language skills – Rennes also runs a buddy programme.
“There are networking opportunities, whether professional or even just a buddy catch-up,” says Divina Curtis from Bangalore, India.
“Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the buddy programme. I could make so many new friends from so many countries; it was an amazing experience.”
Another event that international students highlight as being a standout is the International Fair. Here, students from different countries and cultures run stands showcasing their unique food, games, and traditions.
“I got to try so many foods from different countries, and I was able to see dance and music from various cultures. That was such an immersive experience. It helped me actually grow as a person, getting to know so many things that I would have never known if I had stayed at home,” explains Divina.
Grow personally and professionally as an international student in France
Moving to a new country to study can be an overwhelming and stressful experience. But adapting to a new culture and getting to know new people also offers opportunities for growth.
For Valerie, this meant first adjusting to a different learning style.
“The workload was a little different than I expected,” she notes.“Coming from the US, where we have a lot of individual work, and here in Rennes we have a lot of group work, which I personally like more because I get to collaborate with other people who have different ideas.”
Hands-on classes are a core part of the Rennes SB experience. Class sizes are intentionally kept relatively small, so students have more opportunities to collaborate and work on projects together.
“I have already experienced so much change – I’ve had a change in mindset, and I’m a more open and accepting person,” says Divina.
“After my experience here, I think I am a new individual as a whole; I don’t think there’s any other way to describe it.”
Studying Cutting-Edge Topics at a Business School in France

Do you dream of working in the music business? Perhaps as a record label manager or in music marketing? The new MSc in International Music Business is an immersive programme designed by Rennes School of Business in collaboration with EMIC Paris (École de Management des Industries Créatives) that prepares students for a global career in the music business.
The two-year music business degree covers essential knowledge, including artist management, digital distribution, and intellectual property. However, the course also broaches corporate responsibility and ethical considerations in the music business.
During the programme, students will have opportunities to network with music industry professionals, complete a four-month internship, and participate in French-language courses to ensure they’re prepared for life in France after they graduate.
Plus, when you study abroad at Rennes School of Business, you’ll get the added benefit of networking with students from all over the world on campus.
