Top 10 Reasons to Study at Schiller International University

29/10/2025

Choosing the right university is one of the most significant decisions you can make, especially if you’re considering studying abroad. Where you study will impact more than your social life: it’ll give you international exposure, real-world experience, and access to a community that may guide what job opportunities you get.

Schiller International University stands out as an institution that embodies this spirit of internationality and opportunity. Founded in 1964, Schiller offers American-style education at four international campuses, in Florida (USA), Madrid (Spain), Paris (France), and Heidelberg (Germany).

Here are ten reasons to study at Schiller International University, alongside real student reviews to help you picture what it’s really like to study at the university.

10 Reasons to Study at Schiller International University

1. Enjoy an international university experience

Schiller students

At Schiller, students share classrooms with peers from over 100 nationalities, engage in impactful discussions that cement multicultural communication, and reside in some of the world’s most dynamic cities.

Unlike most universities that simply host international students, Schiller’s teaching is structured around the concept of global education. Whether you’re taking a course on diplomacy in Madrid or business ethics in Paris, you’ll confront diverse perspectives and cement your skills through cross-cultural learning. The result is a truly global learning environment that prepares you to think and work internationally from the very beginning.

2. Gain An American Degree with Global Recognition

One of the most compelling reasons to study at Schiller is that it offers fully US-accredited degrees, meaning students can earn an American qualification while studying on a European campus. A poll of international students who studied at an American university found that 75% of students believe they have more job opportunities because of their American degree.

As a result, for students who want the rigour and reputation of an American education but the cultural immersion of studying in Europe, Schiller provides the best of both worlds.

I am happy with my experience at this university

I would recommend this university for people who would love to get both American and UK degree and you could live in 4 different countries(Spain, Germany, France and the US). I personally studied in Madrid. My experience was very pleasant, the teachers are very nice, always willing to help you. People studying there are also very nice and come from different countries which makes the atmosphere very interesting since you learn a lot about other cultures. Nobody gives you pressure, which makes studying pleasant and doesn’t stress you out all the time. I studied international relations and politics. Professor Shaw was very nice to listen to, taught us a lot. Also what I liked a lot is that we had many different classes such as economics, business, language classes, which is very diverse. The campus was quite small when I studied there 3-4 years ago but now I think they expanded it and now have a big campus. I am quite satisfied about my experience there, so would recommend this university to others.

3. Study across multiple campuses on one degree

Reasons to Study at Schiller in Paris

Perhaps Schiller’s most exciting attraction is its multi-campus mobility. Students can begin their studies at one campus and transfer to another seamlessly, without losing credits.

For example, you might start your bachelor’s degree in sunny Madrid, later move to Paris for a semester to immerse yourself in French culture, and finish your studies in Heidelberg’s historic college town. By living in multiple countries, students gain cultural fluency and strengthen their ability to adapt to diverse academic and social environments – all within the same degree programme.

4. Immerse yourself in technology challenges

Across all its campuses, Schiller students engage in interactive projects through the Digital Learning Hub that encourage students to apply their newly acquired skills to innovation, sustainability, and global awareness.

Projects might include prototyping simple AI models in Python or no-code platforms such as Teachable Machine, or using virtual tour software or augmented reality tools to design sustainable travel experiences. Those studying international relations or sustainability use data visualisation platforms such as Tableau or Flourish to map refugee flows and climate impact zones, learning how to interpret and present complex geopolitical data.

These projects support Schiller’s ‘learning-by-living’ philosophy, which encourages students to proactively develop solutions to problems.

5. Join a global network

At Schiller, you’ll join a worldwide alumni network of 20,000 strong, including professionals working in diplomacy, finance, international business, education, and NGOs. These valuable professional connections could be the key to unlocking your dream career after graduating.

Furthermore, networking events, alumni mentorship, and global partnerships enable Schiller students to connect with individuals who have already established successful international careers. It’s not uncommon for Schiller graduates to meet fellow alumni in unexpected corners of the world, from Taipei to Canada.

6. Career-focused education with practical learning

career focused learning at Schiller

Beyond lectures and theory, students work on real-world projects, case studies, and business simulations that mirror the challenges faced in professional settings. The university also prioritises internships, encouraging students to gain hands-on experience while studying.

With guidance from Schiller’s Career Services team, students find placements in companies, embassies, NGOs, and start-ups across Europe and the US. This experiential learning model bridges the gap between the classroom and the professional world.

7. Opt for a Dual Degree with Dublin Business School

For those seeking even more academic and professional leverage, Schiller offers a Dual Degree Program in partnership with Dublin Business School (DBS). During this programme, you’ll spend three years at any Schiller campus, followed by a final year in Dublin, earning a degree from both Schiller and DBS.

This programme enables students to graduate with two fully recognised degrees – one American and one European – with the full support of two institutions’ career services. This is particularly advantageous for students pursuing careers in international business, management, or global policy, where diverse qualifications are respected, and may even help you stand out from the competition.

8. Multicultural lifestyle

Each of Schiller’s campuses offers a distinct lifestyle that reflects the city’s personality. Madrid offers Mediterranean energy, tapas culture, and year-round sunshine; Paris brings art, history, and a global hub for diplomacy and fashion; Heidelberg offers a classic European student atmosphere, surrounded by tradition and charm; Tampa provides an American college-town experience with beaches and modern campus facilities.

Living and studying in such diverse environments cultivates the Schiller global mindset – the ability to thrive in multicultural workplaces, communicate across languages, and navigate new environments confidently.

Global Mindset

I honestly enjoy studying at Schiller. I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in IRD. At Schiller, I get to meet different people that have different backgrounds and unique stories to tell. I get to participate in activities that include guests coming to the university, visiting the wine factory, etc. I also like the fact that students can have one on one conversations with instructors. The staff members are professional and the location of the university is centred, which is fancy. I would recommend Schiller to a friend.
My life outside of the classroom includes road trips, red cross activities, going out with friends and other social/cultural activities. My recommendation for food would be the Spanish tortilla. It’s very simple and can be eaten at almost any time of the day. My favourite thing about Madrid is that no matter what someone likes to do, they will find it in Madrid. If someone likes adventures or less spontaneous activities, they will find it in Madrid. So far I am having a good experience and meeting new people is the highlight of my experience in Madrid. They all have a story and it is one of the ways that I learn about other cultures.

9. Take advantage of industry partnerships

Schiller’s commitment to employability extends beyond the classroom through its partnerships with global companies, organisations, and NGOs. These collaborations give students access to guest lectures, corporate projects, and internship opportunities that connect their studies to real-world industries.

Whether it’s business students working on market analysis with European firms or international relations majors engaging with non-profit initiatives, these experiences help students apply theory to practice. Schiller’s industry links also mean you can gain early exposure to professional life and networking – an invaluable advantage as you transition from your degree to the workforce.

10. Gain relevant skills for the future

According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Work 2025 study, the most essential skills for graduates to acquire today are analytical thinking, resilience, flexibility and agility. Schiller’s academic model, which offers flexible study paths, experiential learning, and international mobility, aligns perfectly with this new skills landscape.

Not only will you leave Schiller with a degree tailored to your chosen interest area, but you’ll have developed skills in adaptability, languages, and an understanding of global markets and societies. These attributes are in high demand across industries such as international relations, technology, hospitality, and entrepreneurship.

Conclusion

Studying abroad is one of the most rewarding challenges you can undertake. It broadens your perspectives, fosters independence, and cultivates lifelong connections with other international students.

At Schiller, you’ll enjoy all of these benefits with the advantage of gaining a highly reputable American degree. By combining American accreditation with European diversity, academic rigour, and cultural exploration, Schiller stands out as a university for students who refuse to be limited by geography.
