Tec de Monterrey and its new educational model

The educational model of my university that has just changed recently is not bad at all, it has its problems as well as its benefits, it is managed by blocks, a block consists of a 4-hour class and it is taught by different teachers, for. For example, if you study engineering during the week in those 4 hours they will give you physics, mathematics, programming and a class especially dedicated only to your project, you also have subjects apart from the block and normally there are 2 and one elective. The block lasts 5 weeks and in your fourth week you present projects from other subjects which are called problem situations and your block project is called Challenge and you finish it in the same week but in the fifth is where you expose them. The bad thing about this system is that they put too many topics in just five weeks and you learn several things but you can feel that you learned very little of everything and you did not perfect any topic, the good thing is that your Challenge is a little more practical than theoretical even It depends on your block, I’m studying engineering and until now the most practical thing has been to make the prototype of an electric motor.

The classes and your exam revolve around your challenge, that is to say that taking the motor challenge as an example, they will give you classes on magnetism and electricity but more focused on magnetism but in the exam there will only be topics that are directly related to the challenge, so you do not have to study all the topics covered but you do have to understand your challenge enough to know what will come in the exam and the exam is divided into two parts, the written and the oral where you have to present your challenge but in general The teachers of the block ask each member of the team something related to the challenge and depending on how they answer and justify it, it is the grade you get.

As for professors, it varies depending on your campus, I have been treated as very good professors as well as not so good ones and that harms your learning because I have had professors who explain your challenge quite well and others who only ask you to do it. do but in both cases you have to investigate on your own anyway but in general the attention of the school is quite good.
