BME curriculum comparison between RWTH and CUHK

CUHK: The assessment of BME courses is mainly composed of 4 components: project, mid-term tests, assignments and written exams. The components have a certain weighting for the final grade, so they will be weighted to determine students’ final grades at the end of the course. In 1/2 introductory course, there is no written exam but only team / individual project, so the final grade, of course, totally depends on performance on project demonstration day. CUHK BME program does not ask students to complete the BME courses prior to graduation, students should pick 1 stream they want to focus on: Medical Device/ Medical Imaging/ Tissue Engineering

RWTH: There are no mid-terms or assignments to submit. The final grade of a course is totally determined by the score of the written exam. However, students must perform well to pass the laboratory session or practice session, in order to be qualified to sit for the exam.
The curriculum design of the BME program is comprehensive for student because I feel the design of compulsory courses are quite all-around: it covers biology, medicine, and engineering part and even reaches out to some Computer science part for medical imaging as well Artificial intelligence. Thus, the course is to guarantee the graduates should have sufficient technique and knowledge to take different roles in medical engineering in the different workplace, e.g Biomedical Engineer, or medical physicist
