Well-planned program with semi flexibility

I’m a 3rd-year student of the “Eufom Business School” in Hamburg, Germany, studying international business management. I am in my 6th semester now which is my semester abroad. I have just enrolled at the UAB in Barcelona and will continue my studies here until the end of April. After that, I will return back home to Hamburg to have one last semester and then the bachelor thesis.

However, this review is about my program in Hamburg which I have attended for 5 Semesters now.

The Eufom Business School offers a total of 4 different directions of studies, International Business Management (B.A.), Business Psychology (B.SC.), Law & Digital Business (LL.B.), Marketing & Digital Media (B.A.). Each year only a couple end up happening though due to a low amount of applicants. The reason for that is the fact that the university is newer and is still building its reputation. It is also a private university with monthly payments that you have to make. The classes consist of 8-15 students on average and it happens often that one of your courses is mixed with students of another direction of study. So classes can consist of up to 30-40 students too.

The Eufom program is planned upfront which is the unique part about this university. Next to its outstanding service this university offers a completely thought-through program which each semester being planned ahead, each course is decided for you. However, you do not get to choose a specialization. You have to take this important decision in the enrollment process which is the beginning of your studies. It can happen that many students change their perspective and want to adapt their specialization of study. Of course, they can always change university and apply for a new program but that is a new effort to make and you would have to start over again if your courses will not be taken into account at the new university. That is usually not the case though as the courses of the Eufom Business School hold a strong reputation due to their fitting to the current world.

I have now experienced several courses and been through several exams. The way the course experience depends on the professor. Most professors try to have the course very interactive, innovative and flexible, especially when there is only such a low amount of students in class. Most professors I have experienced are very nice and teach well. In my university, there was also never a mandatory attendance rule. Another great aspect as it adds up to freedom within the program. You learn when you want to learn and if you want to finish your studies with good grades it’s on you to appear in class when feeling like it’s needed. From what I was able to spectate thus far is that this had a very positive reaction on the students and the students appeared anyways, all the time, as they want to finish their studies. I mean, they also pay monthly for it so there is a certain pressure that lays on your shoulders and accompanies you throughout your studies.

My program is well planned and is mostly held in English and I have a language course as well. I’ve only had a good experience thus far.

The courses examination also depends on the professor. Usually there is an exam at the end of the semester and a presentation to be held or a term paper to turn in. From my experience I have liked the way the examination works.

The university offers a well-made online-campus in which you find all the information you need and it is also the place where you apply for exams.

Overall the university offers great service as the administration office is always available and will get back to your request, whatever it might be, as soon as possible.

If there ever is a problem you are having overall the university is there to help. When it comes to problems with examination their hands are usually tied to before set rules. So flexibility is lacking there but you cannot have everything right?

Overall the university is recommendable if you are looking for a well-planned and thought-through program. You have to make sure you are aware of the fact you will have to stick to the courses that are chosen within the direction of study through your college years. Service, present as well as digital, holds strong importance within this university. The University is in the centre of Hamburg and is also well connected to train and bus lines.

Thank you for reading.

Hi Artin, thank you so much for this. I‘m looking forward to joining the eufom to study International Business too, but I‘m still not sure. I would study in Düsseldorf, but I still have my doubts sometimes. would you say that all your mates have been happy with the treatment they’ve received through those 5 whole semesters? or was it just in the beginning? would you recommend me joining this uni? is it also taken as serious as the FOM?
