Upon embarking to study on an LLB Law course at the University of Strathclyde, I was met with a great deal of help and support from the university staff. The friendliness and approachability of the staff, including professors, administrators and tutors was exemplary and contributed greatly to the enjoyability of the course. On top of this, the rigorous education I received while on the course developed in me a fully rounded and detailed understanding of the legal system that I believe will accompany me for my entire life. Overall, I would highly recommend this university for all prospective students.

The University of Strathclyde offers various opportunities for student to excel in their degree, as well as being able to maintain a healthy social life. Strathclyde offers amazing support particularly for mental health. They have a range of mental health sites as well as support team that you can reach out to without any hesitation. The university also has a numerous amount of societies, so it is quite easy to find something suited for you, that is able to meet your schedule. They also have a job ship incase you require to work, providing opportunities that you cannot miss. They are there to meet your needs and surpass expectations. The staff is always friendly, and you are (depending on your course) assigned to a Personal Development Adviser (PDA) to whom you can also reach out to for support and will almost always get a response as soon as possible. They can always assist and direct you in the right direction if necessary if you are troubled with something. Overall, Strathclyde has opportunities available that most definitely can meet your expectations, or just a little hobby. It’s perfect for making new friends and meeting different people, all while they will inform you for any work experience opportunities or placements. There is always support for no matter what you do.

Although Strathclyde University has a boisterous and luminous atmosphere, it is very crowded. It was very easy (especially during Covid 19), to get past 2 whole years of University without making any real friends. I feel that the university should have more programmes in place for first year students to do familiarise themselves with each other.

I really like the lecturers and many teach in good informative ways which engage you. It can get very stressful and I would say sometimes the University lack the support which some need. Tutorials are extremely useful and they help me understand the modules better.

I am studying law at Strathclyde. I started a joint honours in English and Law and changed over to Law LLB since the course was so interesting.

Through the first 3 years you have a selection of core subjects, set by the Law Society of Scotland that you must study in order to get a law degree. On top of these subjects, you can pick some extra subjects which you are interested in. There is a really varied choice and something for everyone. It gives you a good chance to try lots of different areas of law, so you find one that is your favourite!

The lecturers are generally very helpful and approachable. There is a great selection of resources for you to use online during your studies and Strathclyde’s online library is brilliant for finding articles.

It’s a more modern approach to studying law than some other universities and there are lots of extra things to get involved in, like the law clinic and the law review.

Glasgow is a brilliant place to study and Strathclyde is right in the middle of Glasgow.
