Qualified staff, excellent environment, really nice place to study. Easy commute from the city. I did really enjoy the experience. After graduation, it was easy to find a job in my field of expertise, still working in the same field in another country. Highly recommended.View more
My experience studying at the University of La Laguna (Tenerife-Canary Islands, Spain) was very positive. I started studying a Diploma in Advanced Studies (Pre-Doctorate) in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, after my foreign Degree in Food Engineering was considered comparable in Spain to a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science and Technology (ULL). This area of knowledge has allowed me to gain work experience, worldwide. I am currently in Canada, where this academic degree was also recognized as equivalent to a Bachelor in Science (Food) by the Province of Alberta (IQAS).View more
The University may not be the best in the world, but it is located on an incredible island with people who are even more so.
It is true that when it rains, leaks appear and sometimes even classes are cancelled, it seems that much of the island is paralyzed in bad weather, they are not used to it and the facilities are usually not prepared either.
In reality, it depends a lot on the degree or the master’s degree that you are going to do because the schools are totally different from each other and are located in different areas, for example, medicine, nursing and physical therapy is further away than the rest.
It is evident that the University of La Laguna does not invest the same amount of money as other Universities, so the facilities are not the best and although I had very good professors, I think that more professors and specialists in the subject they teach.
I studied a lot during my degree and I also complained about a thousand things, but when I went outside and related to people from other universities I realized that they all have their flaws. We have to take advantage of all the opportunities that our university gives us and if we want more we just have to look for them, not everything comes as a gift.
Regarding socialization, the people I met made me feel at home and also, there are some associations that help the greater integration of the student who comes from outside.
Without a doubt, I would return to study at the University of La Laguna, we can all improve it.
Really bad university, I wasted my time while studying there, bad organization, bad programs. The only good thing about this university is that it’s located in Tenerife. They seems to be stucked in the XIX century, attending to lectures is just a waste of time, the schedule for the biology degree are the worst, the facility’s are awful, lack of maintenance…View more
I have been studying at the La Laguna University for 3 years. I have to admit that living in Tenerife for me is one of the best places to live in Europe, is not so much expensive and the people are great, funny and open-minded here.
In respect of my studies in the University, I have to say that the installations for Engineering are really good, pretty new. However, many of the professors I have had show little motivation for the subjects and there are not many inspections, because anyone can distinguish between a good professor and a not that good one. However, in many other disciplines, there are pretty good professors, I suppose it’s like any other University.
On the other side, Tenerife is a really beautiful place to live and there a lot of cultural events and parties. Besides, there are welcome programs from the association AEGEE that helps incoming students to socialize and know the islands!View more
Administration and paperwork-related are the worst things. Also, some buildings are really old and need an urgent improvement.
You can find pretty nice professors and researchers. Also, you can join the activities of AEGEE-Tenerife, a very nice students organization to enjoy really good the university experienceView more
I was for 4 years at the University of La Laguna, and you could find everything, as good and facilities, humidity everywhere, and flood when it rained four drops. But the organization is the worst of all, it seems that 11-year-old children control it and have better solutions than all of them.View more
My experience in the university of the lagoon has been generally satisfactory, unlike other people around me who have had problems with the teaching staff or the content of the subjects, I have not encountered this problem in my career and in that I’m happy. The problem that I see at the University of La Laguna is the lack of care in the facilities (when it rains appear leaks) and lack of resources, I also believe that one should take care of cleaning.View more
