Our university is located on a hill in Athens and most of the faculties are surrounded by nature. There are highly qualified professors with wide knowledge in the field of Electrical Engineering. However, the university lacks equipment and students do not have many opportunities, especially for their bachelor, to work in a laboratory and gain practical experience on what they are studying in the class. One advantage is that everything is free – there is no fee for courses or books. When you finish your course, you are considered as an Engineer with much knowledge in the field, but without specific projects and practical experience.
Another thing that it’s missing is the connection with the labor market. Students face a big difficulty in finding a proper job when they finish studying, unless they are proactive and they have starting building their career by themselves. However, there are some Students’ Associations where students have opportunities to participate in seminars/competitions and develop their soft skills along with their hard skills.
To sum up, I would recommend this university to students who are interested in academic careers mostly – the ones who seek for advanced knowledge in the field of electrical engineering and computer engineering.
