I really appreciated the variety of psychology classes throughout my degree. Some professors really did not know how to teach effectively. Other than that, as an international student, I have found it quite fulfilling to study here.

The program is an amazing program, and is a mixture of learning about legal history, and how the legal system have treated particular underprivileged groups in the past. It opens up your mind and helps you view things from a critical perspective.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University in 2001. What I liked about the program was the various areas under the scope of Psychology that was presented to students. Classes were always interesting – jam packed, with Professors always discussing interesting topics that kept students engaged at all times. I made and met many great people with different experiences and from different backgrounds. Many, that I have maintained friendships to date.

On campus, while as a student, I realized that there were many support networks and associations available. Through this, I engaged with people from all walks of life. Affiliation with some of the associations, provided guidance with workload, advice and overall direction with my studies, overall education pathway and furthermore career aspirations. This made “Student Life” at York always exciting. There was always a support channel available for students in terms of support. Based on my own personal experiences, I did and do not feel there is an area for improvement needed and would recommend the school to any University aspirant(s).

In terms of International curriculum and exchange students, I did not have much exposure at the time. I met a few, but know that this number as of todays times has increased. This is a great highlight of this schools willingness and ability to create diversity on campus and bridges the gap between local and students new to the country. As an International student, this is a great opportunity to possibly – if needed, study a new language, alongside earn a degree and of course learn about a new environment/country.

Although I did not pursue further education in Psychology after earning my degree, I feel it has provided me a great foundation within my current career. After graduating from York University, I attended Seneca College. This was a joint program offered through York where I earned a diploma with Human Resources Management. Overall, my degree, complimented by HR, has aided me as an individual with effective Communication skills, Critical thinking and has provided me a great understanding of Human Behavior. All of which are effective within Corporate culture.

I would recommend York University to anyone looking for a school that has great course curriculum, Professors, support networks and diversity.
