I enjoyed my experience at Queen’s University! I chose a program I was interested in, liked Kingston as a city, and made friends with whom I was able to take some classes with as well as experience life with. However, I also found Kingston very lonely at times. Everyone seems so tight-knit that if you don’t find yourself fitting in you’re left very alone. There’s also a lot less to do compared to bigger cities, for better or worse. If you’re okay with this, Queen’s has phenomenal professors who (at least in my experience in the Arts) are very compassionate and down to earth. I’ve learned a lot in my program and also by taking various electives, some I never pictured myself as interested in. The campus is beautiful and on the smaller side, meaning you can learn where everything is and truly make it feel like home. There are always cool student-run initiatives going on (MUSE, QBACC, AIESEC) that offer something for everyone. While I’m looking forward to leaving after my four years here, I do think I’ve made some of my best memories here.
