Positives:
– Modern building and access to latest technology and Software which were relevant to my degree
– Access to a great Careers teams which helps with Interviews and Job Hunting Preparations
– Mandatory Industrial Training (Externally)
– Modern Library with access to thousands of books/literature
– 24/7 Access to Campus
– CBD location so close to shopping and food places
– Recent new staff who are very eager to teach
Negatives:
– Quite a few old staff – they recycle assignments so you aren’t challenged enough – hopefully newer staff changes this bad habit
– Personally – It seems like domestic students are preferred over International Students (In terms of how staff help others)
– A lot of recycled materials from other universities so it is easy for students to prepare for exams
– Since CBD location – Buildings are a fair walk apart – so classes may be in different buildings one after another which can be a ~15 min walk
– Not enough Practical Tips taught in lectures – most theory-based which I think is wrong.
Campus life:
With UTS being in a CBD location – Uni life is different to that of a typical uni. People hang out in buildings rather than the outside – although there are a few outdoor spots around campus.
Lots of things to do in buildings with game rooms, pubs and general chill/rest areas.
Would I recommend someone to study here? It depends on what that person wants and how much effort they are willing to put in.
If an individual wants an environment that isn’t as challenging as other unis but is willing to put in the work themselves and get a bit of guidance from lecturers and tutors then UTS is the place. But if you’re after a place with constant guidance, I’d recommend elsewhere
