My postgraduate experience at UQ isn’t good. The teaching quality is bad and I feel that the school is just taking in lots of students for their money. They don’t invest back in improving the teaching standards which is the core of any tertiary institute apart from research. The student teacher ratio is so stretched to the point that I cannot get any tutor during practical sessions.
I nearly had depression when I found that UQ doesn’t give a damn about their students; they do not teach properly, do not vet their lecture materials and have a lot of administrative issues. This is even worse as I am an international paying a lot of money to study at this establishment. I actually feel guilty and shameful to have enrolled here.
I am by no means a struggling student (constantly scoring above the cohort’s average) but if given an opportunity to turn back time, I wouldn’t study here in Australia and at UQ. I am beginning to realise why people back in my home country see an Australian qualification as inferior; something which I was oblivious about until now.
A lot of students are also confused by how the courses are managed and run and the coordinators are not apologetic about it. Do expect a lot of lip service from them though.
