Curtin University is one of the best and most prestigious universities in Australia. The technology-related degrees offered are recognized globally. For engineering undergraduates such as myself, the university provides immense support and the academic content is quite challenging.
That being said, the academic structure and system (i.e. academic progression and resits) are not ideal compared to that of other universities. Furthermore, international students studying at Curtin have trouble gaining the required number of credits to graduate as certain subjects are not offered every semester. Curtin University only allows 100 credits per semester, which causes problems for students facing resits. The academic standards and requirements at Curtin are so high, that it sometimes is really tough for students. Most units pose problems for students as the grades and assessments are such that it is impossible to pass the module if one component within the unit goes wrong.
However, Curtin University is a great learning environment and provides the required knowledge to succeed in the respective field. Regardless of the intense pressure, it is at the forefront of high-quality higher education.
