I like how engaged the lecturers are and take a true passion into their subjects and lectures.
I love the social life, as a rural university there aren’t large cities or towns that dominate the university but I like that about the uni. It brings the people together a lot more. The social with sport and society’s from where you’re from in the country/world is brilliant. The university events are really good as all held on campus, however, ticket prices for these Balls and events seem a little too much. For a student union paying £70 for a summer ball ticket just for entry seems very steep. Especially how it’s supposed to be for the students, I’m surprised there isn’t more funding in place to support the students more.
Apart from this, the university offers an extremely wide variety of courses and I wouldn’t have picked anywhere else. I only applied for this uni and if I didn’t get it I don’t know what I would have done.
I feel the university facilities could be improved such as the sporting facilities. The gym is crammed into 2 old squash courts with old equipment. For a highly respected university with great sports, I feel they should provide higher qualities facilities for this. The pitches could be floodlit more / maintained properly to work fully during the winter nights.
But overall I am very happy to be at university here and would recommend anyone.
