I’m currently in my second year at Newcastle University, pursuing a degree in Psychology. What stands out to me about the program here is the flexibility it offers. In the second year, we have the freedom to select from a diverse range of modules, and there is the opportunity to take up to 20 credits from external modules. This means if you have a keen interest in a subject outside of psychology, you’re given the chance to explore it.
In third year, we get to choose almost all our module selection. There is lots of interesting choices. However, one aspect that I find disappointing is the limited options for studying abroad within the psychology program at Newcastle. While the university provides opportunities for placements or study abroad, the connections to universities in Europe, particularly in countries like Italy or Spain, are lacking. This is something I would have considered if there were more study abroad options available.
The staff are amazing and almost never strike which is a big bonus, they care about your wellbeing and take feedback into consideration. I would recommend Newcastle university, and in addition Newcastle is an amazing city with lots to do.
