The campus is great, and the university on the whole just seems to attract friendly people. Maybe it’s the Northern vibe seeping into everyone who arrives here.
The vast majority of the teaching I’ve experienced has been excellent (there’ll always be one or two whose teaching style doesn’t gel well with your learning style!). The University has many world class researchers in various subjects, and everyone lecturing knows their specialisms very thoroughly.
Also lovely about the University is the real focus it places on research — it’s all too easy for an establishment to lean back too heavily on teaching, and neglect bring at the forefront of research. UoM had a history of making headlines, and has some fantastic alumni.
