Amazing University, top notch facilities, nice lectures, fantastic sports environment for the students and superb laboratories that is the Universidad De Càdiz. Honestly it is the best institution to further your studies.
View moreStudying at the University of Cadiz was one of my dreams! I had the best studying years so far! it was so great to meet new people there, the students were so nice, the professors so helpful! they cared a lot about us, and tried their best to help us understand everything! The city also was so good, for me, the campus is very well located, I loved it there and I undoubtedly recommend studying there.
View moreI think the university still has a lot to improve, as some practical classes have too many students, and some teachers leave a lot to be desired, but with a little effort and initiative, it can be solved quickly.
View moreThe aerospace engineering bachelor’s degree is located at the ESI, on the Puerto Real campus, not in Cádiz (capital of the region).
The ESI is a relatively new building where all UCA engineering courses are located, and the professors are relatively young and give a broad vision of the aerospace world. The degree has two specialisations: Aircraft, and Aerospace Materials and Equipment.
The subjects of the last branch are highly recommended due to the proximity of nearby factories and laboratories, which provide industry professionals as teachers of the subjects, giving a really close view to the industry.
The building is located about 5 minutes walk from the main campus, in the middle of the Los Toruños Natural Park, a nice place to walk between classes and relax. Another great facility of the ESI is its specialised engineering library, which provides a pleasant place to study and work in its workrooms. The canteen has a nice friendly familiar treatment.
In addition, there are many clubs and technical equipment for external activities. For the year 2021, the university has a CubeSat project, formula-student and moto-student teams.
But not everything is gold, the ESI is relatively poorly connected by public transport, and the car park sometimes fills up quickly, especially in winter. Also, Puerto Real is 20 minutes away from Cádiz by bus, which means that you have to choose between the town of Puerto Real to live in, a nice and quiet place to study, but with not much to do, or Cádiz, with more travel time but more activities available.
The university also does not always provide the resources for student initiatives, and the university campuses are spread throughout the region, which sometimes makes it difficult for students to interact. The national and international mobility is fine, but with not too many destinations and sometimes with problems for the subject validation.
All in all, a good place to study, with plenty of good weather throughout the year and great beaches to relax on.
View moreI am currently studying the fourth year of the double degree in Linguistics and Applied Languages and English Studies at Universidad de Cádiz.
The location of the university is fantastic as it is right next to the sea, and the residences they offer are affordable and recommendable. At this university they teach subjects from many different degrees and double degrees, but based on my experience in my double degree I have to say that the subjects are very attractive and interesting if you are passionate about the world of language. There are very practical subjects such as phonetics and phonology or semantics, but there are more theoretical subjects in which you learn a lot such as psycholinguistics or sociolinguistics.
As for the secretarial services at the university, they leave a lot to be desired. If you have problems with paperwork, you will almost certainly have to deal with them yourself. However, the same cannot be said of the library services, which are very new, intuitive and user-friendly.
The facilities are in very good condition, the classrooms are spacious, there are lab rooms with computers, headsets and other digital resources, the library is large and has numerous soundproofed rooms ideal for studying or group work.
This programme has been a very enriching experience as I had the chance to study abroad, know many people from around the world, and travel to many countries. I highly recommend people to look the programme up. You’ll never regret it.
View moreGood university administratively, good services for young students, encourages sports, good digital services, economical facilities, but learning isn’t at the level I expected and all sevices are destinated for less than 40 years students.
View moreAdministratively: it is chaos, I was 5 years and each worse. To give an example (one of many), I was given an international stay scholarship the day before the summer vacation, so in September when I had to start the stay, there was nothing planned by the university (documentation without send, nothing …). As the months passed, they still did not hand in the documentation because the international relations office said that it was the responsibility of the faculty professors and vice versa. Therefore, the scholarship today still does not succeed. To take another example, to register for the master’s degree, I asked for the English degree, you could start the master’s degree in September and present the certificate in December, which would not be a problem with enrollment three months later (innocent …). The date and deadlines of the day of the exam arrive (exam that the UCA PUSO EXCLUSIVE FOR THESE STUDENTS) overlap. Administrative follón, with Christmas in between, contacts with a thousand people, nobody solves anything until one day, someone does something. To give a last example, the curricular practices of master’s and career: at the beginning of the course in the planning they said that you could do them during the master and one year later until December. At the middle of the course the regulations change and you are obliged to do them in SUMMER (time that at least I used to work and earn money to live the following year). Also do not move a finger to open agreements with companies. They give you the two typical ones that the faculty already has, period. And if you want to open a new agreement, get the beans.
As for learning, the UCA is very good at theoretical knowledge. In the Faculty of Marine Sciences there are excellent teachers and experts in many environmental issues. And as everywhere, bad teachers. The problem is that the theory you learn is not compensated by practices. They sell you that there is no money (not even for laboratory latex gloves! USE A GLOVES FOR A COUPLE !! they told us). We stepped on 1 boat in 4 years of racing, we stepped on the beach 3 times … and 4 counted excursions. I’ve been to other universities and I can compare …
As for the master of aquaculture and fishing, you pay € 2000 and when you finish 1) you can not work in an aquaculture plant because you do not have the title of handling animals (about € 600) and 2) you can not board because you do not have the training basic maritime (title with 2 years of waiting list if you want it for free and if not, you pay € 800).
Nevertheless, I reiterate the aforementioned. You learn a lot in theory and have very good experts.
