It is considered that generation Y is the generation with the most creative minds. Thus, millennials tend to express themselves through various forms, such as Art and Design.
Degrees in Art and Design aim to empower students to use art as a tool for self-expression. This degree is designed to develop visual perception as well as visual literacy. As a result, students gain practical skills in order to turn their imaginative ideas into reality.
Unlike many programmes, Art and Design courses improve students’ attention to detail, creative thinking, and freedom in the decision-making process.
Art and Design is a competitive industry. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to be equipped with the necessary skills to have higher chances of being employed in this field.
In general, graduates from this degree have a wide range of employment options once they finish their studies. The advantage of an Art and Design course is that you are highly employable for other industries too – there are numerous courses that would help to develop specialised skills for specific careers.
Some particular job areas include – apart from being an artist – community worker, fashion designer, graphic designer, illustrator, advertising executive, and multimedia worker. Many Art and Design graduates find themselves using their skills in marketing, media, or even teaching.
Art and Design degrees are part of Bachelor of Art (BA) Degrees. Courses’ structure and length depend on what type of programme you choose to study and the country where you choose to study. Usually, Art and Design courses are a three-year commitment, although there are countries – like the USA – where you need to study for at least four years.
The most remarkable aspect about this degree is that it emphasises the practical knowledge. Courses are often taught in studios, as a form of workshops. Additionally, students are assessed based on their portfolios of work, which may be exhibited to the public.
I really enjoy the program because of the projects, at IED we don’t have too many theory classes instead we do projects. It’s very interesting because it allows me to be creative while also changing my perspective on design.
The university has very nice and good teachers and we have access to very modern equipment.
This school is very well prepared, the equipment you need you will be able to have it in there, all Apple computers are of latest model with all programs for rendering and modeling.
Teachers are fully dedicated to the design industry, which helps you a lot to make contacts and work in a future with them. The classes are fun, but you will have always homework.
The facilities are very good and the location is ideal if you are a student abroad as it is very easy to find.
University with a strong mindset on human-focused solutions for everybody, teaching how could you design your desired future for applications in a world of constant modifications
Installations and teachers are the best when we talking about new perspectives on the learning process
Very good school to do a master degree. There are international students from all over the world. We’re a lot of latin americans but there’s also europeans, and asians.
So far I’ve only been here for a week, so all I can tell so far is how the process of being accepted in the school and the welcoming have been.
First of all, I got a scholarship I won a contest and I got a 100% scholarship, I still had to pay “matriculación” but I saved 9,000 euros with this scholarship and that’s a big help. Right after I won the contest I started receiving emails with every single step I was supposed to follow. They sent me my acceptance letter and I was able to start with the visa paperwork. (probably I’ll explain this in some other review)
The first day of school everyone was really welcoming. We had a nice talk with many teachers at the conference room, we had some activities and we had a little snack break. The second day we had a conference with an interesting company working on the things we could do once we graduate. Then we had a (non- alcoholic) toast. Teachers are super welcoming, super nice and are there to help.
I had some problems with my school email which they solved immediately, I had no idea of what I had to do regarding papers and not being an illegal in Spain and they helped me with this too. They have psychological help for free, which I think is awesome because sometimes moving to a new city on your own can be hard.
So far I can say I love IED Barcelona
