My university boasts a diverse community with individuals from various cultural backgrounds. Being from the relatively small island of Jamaica, it isn’t always easy to encounter people from around the world. Hence, I appreciate that UWI has created a safe space for such interactions.
View moreMy time at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, has been a dynamic journey that seamlessly blends academic growth with vibrant social interactions. The campus’s expansive beauty, enveloped by lush greenery, provides an awe-inspiring backdrop to my daily pursuits. The plethora of clubs and societies on offer have been instrumental in fostering valuable networking opportunities and enriching socialization experiences. However, a slight drawback has been the administration’s occasional lack of responsiveness to student needs, leaving room for improvement in this aspect.
The dedicated and understanding nature of the lecturers I’ve encountered has been a highlight of my UWI experience. They have consistently shown genuine concern for addressing my questions and concerns, creating a supportive learning environment. Nevertheless, while the individual courses have been informative, I find that the program as a whole lacks the well-rounded educational approach I had hoped for. Despite this, my time at UWI, Mona, remains a memorable chapter, where the fusion of captivating surroundings, engaging social opportunities, and caring educators has left an indelible mark on my personal and academic growth.
