The University of the West Indies is the oldest University in the Caribbean. This University is home to many leaders and pioneers and I’m so proud to call myself a Pelican and be a part of that legacy. The campus is well-maintained and beautiful. What I love most is how interactive the teachers are. The teachers truly want what’s best for their students and often ask us to engage with them and the material. It’s never just about sitting in a boring lecture! The school is very inclusive and accommodates every student’s physical as well as educational needs. The variety of programs here, makes the school feel like a one-stop shop; which is really good. There’s a little something for everyone here. I’m currently studying Digital Media Production and I’m enjoying the hand on nature of the program. I feel like I am obtaining useful real-world skills while having an outlet for my creativity. An area of improvement that I think needs to be considered, is the payment options/financial plans. The pandemic hit everyone and each of us has individual financial situations. Since the pandemic, the school did decrease the flexibility of the payment plans and I think that was a little harsh. It’s important, yes for the students to ensure they pay their fees on time, as those fees go towards a lot of things. However, life happens and we need some more wriggle room. I really do enjoy going to the University of the West Indies and while Im enjoying the ride, I can’t wait to wear my gown and cap and join the group of proud alumni of this wonderful and diverse school
