Since the institution is in the middle of the city, finding accommodation both on-campus and off-campus students wasn’t exactly a problem. Although I enjoyed my English studies degree, there were some professors who had a careless, carefree attitude toward their work, and there were also quite a few dishonest ones. Another thing I didn’t like about the school was how uninterested and unmotivated the administration was to address the concerns made by the students. I went back to campus a few months ago after around five years since I graduated, and it was so much nicer than it was then.
View moreIt is just like every other basic federal University not too special and nothing less. If there is anything I dislike it is definitely the slow movement of things and how hard it is to pay for the school requirements. And on the other hand, I think I appreciate how open and free the school environment is.
And yes definitely will recommend it that’s if you cannot necessarily afford a private school then you are welcome to unical the choice is all yours.
My program was quite good, however some of the professors lacked the motivation to teach the students. That was really upsetting. Accommodations were generally not a problem because campus is conveniently located in the middle of town, making it accessible to both on-campus and off-campus students. The caliber and standard of the buildings and classrooms, in my opinion, could’ve been raised. According to the carrying capacity and number of students in a particular class, there should be enough seats available. Aside from that, college was a blast but Due to the amount of schoolwork, it got little boring at times, but I still liked it. In my opinion, UNICAL is not really international. only a small number of students from border countries go there.
View moreIt’s a good school, if I’m not mistaken one of the best in the nation. Like most colleges, it has several shortcomings that prevent it from ranking among the top 3. Because of the school’s highly unreliable leadership and frequent financial mismanagement, there are some questions about its viability as a learning institution. Life is excellent outside of school, especially when you consider how lovely Calabar and its residents are. Of course, I would love for more people to come here.
View moreMy years here were worth every dime. However, there is one thing I regret; I was not interested in Enactus until I graduated. Now I see Enactus, and Unical on social media and I wish I submitted to it. Enactus is an organisation that engages its students in National and International competitions, empowering and creating global opportunities for them. Enactus, Unical is the best Enactus program in all of Nigeria Campuses. Brilliant students, tactical faculty advisor and a supportive school. I envy that. If you are a student or intending, do not sleep on it.
View moreUnical is an interesting university, one thing I like about unical is the niceness of the environment.
What I dislike about unical are the lecture rooms. The lecture rooms are not entirely so conducive and the ones that feel conducive are way too small to occupy the number of students offering the course..
The arrival of a new VC has brought about the development of some new infrastructures so I hope the lecture rooms issue will be way better when we resume school after the strike and I like how the new VC has put in place so many new things like how she made GSS computer based is commendable but however this developments came at the expense of our school fees and other departmental dues being increased drastically thereby affecting students a lot and as much as I like the developments, this increment is becoming a serious problem.
Unical is an interesting school with lots of courses, sooo feel free to apply.
What I especially liked about the school is that it’s located at the centre of town so accommodation wasn’t exactly a problem for students living on or off campus. I quite liked my program, English studies but one thing I didn’t like was the nonchalant and lackadaisical attitude and behavior of certain Professors and also there were quite a few corrupt ones as well. Another thing I didn’t like about the institution was the lack of determination and enthusiasm by the management when certain issues were raised by the students. I visited campus a couple of months ago after having graduated about 5 years ago and it looked so much better than it did in my time. I hear now that the school is run under a new management which is why it looks the way it does now. In terms of internationality, only a few students from neighboring countries attend this institution. Lastly, the career prospects are a bit sticky as graduates of English Studies tend to become Teachers or Professor assistants and have to work their way to becoming Professors or something outside the field.
