I followed the bachelor’s degree in the same university I’m studying astronomy. I got a bit lost in the master’s degree because I hoped there was more study of the life of organisms on other planets (biology) than still physics, numbers and formulas.

Padua is a great city with lots of opportunities, bars, events and plenty of student life. The campus is spread throughout and, specifically, La Specola hosts most of the Astrophysics and Cosmology courses during the year, which is an added bonus! It gets quite cold in the winter months, however.

The different courses offered in this degree are plentiful and, in fact, the degree is split into a more theoretical and observational track. Students have quite a lot of choice when it comes to tailoring their degree program, which allows for a more personalised experience in an otherwise quite strict education.

The level of English is acceptable, though some professors may be past their prime or not have great communication skills. The laboratory experiences are mediocre at best, however, and there are little to no coursework or homework exercises. The exams are tough and in some respects can be unfair!

Definitely do not regret my choice, however. Thanks Padova!
