Transformative 1st Year Experience at UBC Okanagan

I embarked on my academic journey at the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) with high expectations, and my first term exceeded them in numerous ways.

One of the standout features of UBCO is its commitment to fostering a tight-knit and supportive community. The faculty ensures that every student feels seen and heard, offering ample opportunities for engagement through seminars, workshops, and extracurricular activities. The sense of community extends beyond the classroom, creating an environment where students can build lasting connections with peers and faculty members alike. I like the diverse cultural clubs and course unions/associations on campus (i.e. Asian Student Association, Southeast Asia Club, International Relations Student Association, etc.)

In conclusion, my first term at UBCO has been nothing short of transformative. The combination of academic excellence, a supportive community, top-notch facilities, innovative teaching methods, and engaging extracurricular activities creates an environment that nurtures holistic development. As a first-year student, UBCO will continue to be the foundation for my academic and personal growth throughout my university journey.

    UBC Review

As a prestigious Canadian university, the University of British Columbia is a perfect place for those who seek to intertwine their academic lives with opportunities to grow as individuals through community engagement and Vancouver’s outdoor scenery. There are hundreds of programs to choose from, varying by faculty, giving people a chance to discover who they are before fixing a career path. A major drawback, however, is the extreme expensive of being able to live in a metropolitan city such as Vancouver which contributes to students experiencing housing crisis and food insecurity.
