I started on Puc in 2017.5 at age of 18. At the beginning, you have to complete a basic cycle that includes three areas: jornalism, marketing and cinema. But they certainty don’t care that much about cinema. The best subjects I took while I was studying were after that basic cycle and in another courses like Design. In Puc you can take lessons from another courses and I think that It’s great for the development of the student. For a brief moment I even wanted to go study Desing but I gave up when I realized I would have to start all over again. Then the pandemic came and Puc handled things really great. We had online classes and I didn’t delayed my graduation thanks to that. But we missed the campus a lot during that times. The PUC campus it’s one of the greatest i’ve ever seen. Not only because of the structure but because of the great vibe and stimulation it has. We have a great library with a lot of books and great space do study. The professors were great and attentive! In special, Patricia Machado was the best professor I ever had. It’s very important for me as a woman to see women teaching. That was inspiring for me.
I met a few international students on campus party’s and they seemed very happy for me. Rio and São Paulo are great city’s for people that age. I personally love Rio because we have beaches and a lot of night life.
I graduated in 2022.1 and I’m already working. I don’t know if I will work with film production for much longer but right now it’s giving me the chance to live by my own and I love that. If I could choose, I don’t know if I would have done Social Comunication. But it’s not because it was PUC, it’s just that I wanted to do something more practical and the course is more about theories and reading. They changed the study outline this year actually. So if you go to PUC to study Social Comunication it will be 80% different from what I did. And that its great because it seem better and they maintained the good teachers.
In the end, i would definitely say that I was an amazing experience.
My course, Psychology, is amazing overall. Great teachers and infrastructure. But it’s too expensive. I have to work to pay for it so sometimes my grades get jeopardized by that. I wish they had better scholarship programs.
View moreI’ve recently graduated from their Medical school which is located outside São Paulo, an hour away to be accurate, in Sorocaba. A traditional school known to be the very first Medical school outside a capital in our country. It’s education structure is questionable since it shows to the students throughout their 6 years of studies, they are all experimenting on the curriculum. Overall, it has a bright side to put the students in contact with patients from the very beginning.
View moreThe university certainly has its place in Brazil’s political history but poor management in recent decades and deteriorating structure risk its existence in the future. Its faculty is among the best in the country, especially in areas such as Law, Social Sciences, Psychology. Eventhough limited by expensive tuition fees, students attending it are pretty diverse in terms of ethnicity, income levels, political alignment and even nationalities, which I find to be fundamental in a university environment. Diversity is definitely welcome. The Monte Alegre/Ministro Godoy campus can get crowded and loud, especially during evening classes. with neighbouring bars contributing to that also. While part of the atmosphere it can certainly interfere with academic activities.
Overall a great university by Brazilian standards, with a great history and legacy, but currently facing financial and organizational struggles which refrain it from functioning at its potential.
The PUC – SP has a great history, with divisions ranging from the struggle against the military dictatorship in Brazil, to the present day promoting kinetic benefits for society and being the only private university to have open doors for the community. His excellency in teaching has recognition inside and outside Brazil, with a huge range of doctoral and post-doctoral professors, he brings to all his courses a socially oriented formation, thus forming citizens who think not only in their own well-being, but In a social welfare.
View moreThe PUCSP is a place that presents the student with knowledge about the course chosen by the individual, with quality in content and with very well qualified teachers. The physical facilities for all courses are quite comfortable and meet the needs of your courses. Obviously, we always seek better conditions for teaching, and PUCSP has always faced this challenge by compensating for the quality of teaching. The formation of the individual as a citizen active in society has always been the differential of PUCSP. There is a freedom of thought and expression that makes PUCSP students critical of themselves, of society and of the political world. As PUCSP has always been involved with national politics, working with its student, academic, and artistic groups, it has always paid an expensive price for it. Students, teachers and intellectuals who attended PUCSP were the hardest hit in the years of the military dictatorship in the country. But the heritage that PUCSP has left me is to have a better observation of the facts, a closer look, but always seeking knowledge before completing a thought analysis. The freedom of expression given by the University, made the students active beings including the performance of teachers, giving us the chance to discuss ways to better use the content given by them.
