The London School of Economics deserves its well-earned prestige. The teaching staff, the administrative staff, and the students all work tirelessly in their quest to “know the causes of things.” As a masters student, I applied to the LSE in order to advance my career opportunities. The diversity of courses, the depth of theoretical engagement, and the seemingly endless stream of events has allowed me to engage with my field of study in new and challenging ways. I have especially loved getting to know my programme cohort; the diversity of students makes for very rewarding seminar discussions. Additionally, the career services center is very helpful, and willing to really get to know your specific needs. The myriad events, networking opportunities , and fairs allow students to start the career search on their own terms. Though balancing coursework and career searches is challenging, there is a lot of support for students at the LSE. Counseling services and academic advising is easily accessible. However, I will say that some of the communication regarding these wonderful opportunities can be opaque. It can sometimes be difficult to find events, services, or even professors, and the time slots available for some of these opportunities can be limited. This can be frustrating, but in my experience, most staff (academic or administrative) are very accommodating and willing to work around your schedule. In sum, the LSE masters programme has met and exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend this programme to any looking to advance their career in media and communications.
