No community and very exclusive

I do not enjoy being a student at LSE. As a working class British person I find myself ostracised by the elitist nature of the university. There is a distinct lack of pastoral support and counselling services. There is very little effort on the part of the university to attempt to create a sense of a inclusiveness and community. The universities international nature is instead a source of division due to a lack of collaboration between departments and societies. The courses appear to be tailored to the preferences and needs of lecturers and teachers as opposed to students. The marking of assessments is needlessly harsh, supposedly to highlight the standard of lse work but this means that students are unfairly penalised at lse in a manner they would not be at other universities. There is an elitist culture at the university among students and staff which has made me feel belittled, patronised, underestimated and looked down upon. I would not recommend LSE as a university to the average student.
