As one of the oldest and largest universities worldwide (founded 1365!), the University of Vienna does not immediately bring to mind a fresh and modern approach to higher education. However, that is exactly what you can expect from a BA in Musicology from the Uni Wien’s humanities faculty.
View moreIn the last couple of years, I’ve had the honor of attending the University of Vienna, and it has been an amazing academic experience. The university has a distinguished history and a well-earned reputation.
The instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly, always eager to participate in conversations and offer advice. It is surprising how many different academic interests are offered in the variety of degrees provided.
The lively campus life is what really stands out. It is easy to meet new people and establish long-lasting connections at the institution because of its many events, clubs, and cultural activities.
Vienna itself provides a wonderful backdrop for student life, with a blend of tradition, modernism, and culture. The city’s superb public transit system and accessibility make it simple to visit all of its attractions.
The University of Vienna’s dedication to academic quality has surely enriched my learning experience and bettered me for the future, despite the workload sometimes being demanding. I would never swap the time I’ve spent here for anything, and I heartily endorse it for any aspiring student.
View moreI haven’t had that good of an experience studying here. The professors in my program (English linguistics) keep to themselves, the chances for meeting people are slim, the students are reserved, and different departments are positioned in different locations, which precludes the chance to experience student life as it should be. In fact, the university seems almost abandoned, which is ironic considering it’s such a big university.
View moreThis is an exciting university in a beautiful city – perfect for an Erasmus exchange. As someone from the UK doing one year of my masters here, I have a few tips for future students. The first thing to note is that it is a really large school with thousands of students and a big campus – so introduce yourself to your course coordinator or student services before you start so that you have someone you can ask for help once you arrive (which you probably will need). Secondly, be aware that the level of English spoken isn’t perfect amongst staff so be prepared for each class so that you find it easy to follow. The study facilities are great and plentiful, and the food in the cafeterias is also good (plenty of vegan options). Be aware that the university is completely closed on a Sunday so be ready to study from home or from a café. Overall I am loving studying here!
View moreI know quite a few students at the University of Vienna and none of them enjoy it.It is overcrowded and it is difficult or even impossible to get into the courses required for graduation. Because of this, people learn for a very long time.
Vienna is a great city to study. Depending on what you want to study, and there are some universities that offer English programs that don’t cost too much.
