The University of Macedonia (UoM) is a Greek further education institution which is located in Thessaloniki, Macedonia, Greece. It is the second largest university in the city, and it is comprised of eight departments. Those mainly deal with social, political and economic sciences. The campus is hosts a group of buildings (with a total area of approximately 40.000 square meters). On site, there are amphitheatres, lecture and seminar rooms, as well as offices, and administration sections, a restaurant, gymnasium and bookshop. The campus also offers two guest rooms for 4-8 people, those are mostly reserved for official visitors. The university was positively rated by the external evaluation committee. The school offers a wide range of interesting subject from which prospective students can choose from. Degree programmes at undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate level are delivered at the University of Macedonia. The school offers a multicultural, safe learning environment where people from all over the world are welcome to study. There are several departments: the Department of Economics, Department of Business Administration, Department of Accounting and Finance, Department of International and European Studies, Department of Balkan Slavic and Oriental Studies, Department of Music Science and Art, Department of Educational and Social Policy, Department of Applied Informatics, as well as the recently created departments: Technology Management Department in Naousa, and the Marketing and Operations Management Department in Edessa. The school places special value on being an international school and internationalization. It therefore is a member of the following associations: Member of European University Association (EUA), Hellenic Academic Libraries Link (HEAL-Link), EMAS – Green University, and many more. The school was initially formed under the name of “the Graduate School of Industrial Studies of Thessaloniki” in 1948 and was renamed in 1958 (“Graduate Industrial School of Thessaloniki”). During their studies, students are encouraged to take part in exchange and semester abroad programmes.
