Harvard University is undeniably one of the most prestigious and renowned institutions of higher learning globally, and there are several aspects to admire about it. Firstly, Harvard’s rich history and tradition of academic excellence are unparalleled, with a faculty composed of leading scholars and researchers across various fields. The university’s rigorous academic programs and emphasis on critical thinking foster an environment conducive to intellectual growth and innovation. Additionally, Harvard’s vast resources, including state-of-the-art facilities, extensive libraries, and research centers, provide students with unparalleled opportunities for exploration and discovery.
On the flip side, some aspects of Harvard may not appeal to everyone. The intense competition and high standards can create a pressure-cooker environment, leading to stress and burnout among students. The size and scale of the institution may also result in a sense of anonymity and lack of personal connection, especially in larger classes. Additionally, the high cost of attendance and limited financial aid options may pose barriers to access for some students, perpetuating issues of elitism and exclusivity.
Overall, while Harvard University offers an unparalleled academic experience and resources, it also comes with challenges and drawbacks that may not suit everyone’s preferences or circumstances.
View moreHarvard has improved and they have streamlined the financial aid application process, making it accessible and straightforward. I was able to check the university’s online financial aid calculator and it provided me with an estimate of the aid I might receive and I did receive it. This process offers transparency and helps families of other prospective students to plan for the financial aspects of a Harvard education.

View moreSome majors are better than others at Harvard and the school isn’t for everyone, but the extracurricular activities here are really outstanding. They’ve given me opportunities and fully-funded travel that I don’t think I could have gotten at any other school.
View moreI thoroughly enjoyed the academic life and the learning environment at Harvard University. In terms of academics, students have the opportunity to attend lectures given by top professionals in their fields. Their ideas and insights are thought-provoking and innovative. Courses are well-organized and structured, and the level of instruction from most professors is impeccable. Regarding the learning environment, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the myriad of interesting seminars, events, talks, and people you can encounter. Learning outside of the classroom is fundamental to the overall experience. There are plenty of resources available to ensure students feel supported and can make the most of their studies. On the downside, I expected better support in terms of career services. This varies by school, but in some cases, their career advancement offices are understaffed, which impacts the assistance they can provide.
