    From an Exchange Program

As an exchange student it was a little difficult for me, at least at the beginning, to comunicate and find locations inside the Campus. The majority of the staff (unless they were in the International office) did not speak English, so you need to fond korean classmates/friends that will help you with that (they are really nice!).
Out of that I really liked the classes taken there. Unfortunately, my classes where not given by any korean proffesor; only foreign ones. But sitll I really liked them. The knowledge is wide and it becomes easy in participating at sessions. Besides, the self-studing method becomes the best tool to improve your knowledge and have good grades! There are also a lot of team work which gives the result of many opinions and points of view that are fun to work with.
All of the classes where given in the new buliding and that was really good. But all the rest of the buildings had an old infraestructure. Maybe they could invest and upgrade those buildings.
The location of the Seoul Campus is really good because it is near the subway and if the cafeteria food does not suit for you, you will have a lot of options around it.
In general I really liked my experience at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

I really enjoyed studying at HUFS, I was exchange in Seoul, South Korea and it was an amazing experience, the foreign students who arrive at HUFS are too many, the atmosphere is very nice and they always have activities for the students!

exchange students from various countries, and the world becomes your new home.

HUFS has its title as “Come to HUFS, and Meet the World”. In my opinion, my experience at HUFS as an exchange student proves that the whole world became my new home.
The organization for exchange/foreign students really cares about the strangers. International Student Organization(ISO) holds various events for students, regular students and foreign exchange students, to share their cultures and to help them all get along well in Seoul life.
Also, they have schorlarships you can apply for, unless you’re Korean (I couldn’t get one since I wasn’t a foreigner…sadly)

For the regular faculty classes/courses they offer, even it says it’s taught in English, most of the foreign language(Language major classes) classes are discussed in Korean. Forexample, Spanish Grammar (intermediate) is explained and taught in Korean with the original(spanish) text.
So, my friends had some small problems on choosing classes since they couldn’t understand Korean.

So, becareful to enroll the courses you’d like to take. If the courses are taught by foreign professors, it’ll most likely be in English or Foreign language, not Korean. =)

    Great University!

This is an excellent place to study in, the green parts in it and the people around makes the Seoul Campus a great base to read and to spend the time with friends.

The professors were good with foreigners specially and they know a lot of things I could say.

My experience on Hankuk University of Foreign Studies

I was an international business exchange student in Hankuk University of Foreign Studies on Fall semester of 2014! It was a great experience! I participated also in the summer session where I took the opportunity to meet a lot of local people from the staff who made en excelent job hosting this session! It was very organized and they offer a lot of attractive and fun activities.

During my semester I took 4 courses. The good thing is that this University offers a lot of courses in English, not only Korean, so this gave me the possibility to choose the ones that were more likely to fit in my major. Three of my teachers were foreigners and one of them was Korean, they were demanding but also flexible.

I noticed that this University is especialized on languaje majors. They teach each language you could imagine.

Most of the university facilities are a little bit old, but they are fine. Actually they were on construction of new buildings at that time.

That sounds like a nice experience! My major is also business and I’m considering applying for a scholarship in hufs, the only thing is that I’ve been searching on their website and it’s not clear (at least to me) if business applicants must speak both korean and english or if we’d be fine being fluent just in one of those languages.. I’m just a beginner in korean so I mean to ask you if you know about this, sorry to bother you and thank you if you respond, have a nice day! 😊
