Bocconi University was founded in 1902 and was the first Italian university to grant a degree in economics. It is a private university that has its main campus in Milan, Italy. Ever since its founding, it has become a leading school in the field of economics and social sciences. It is a major research university with democratic values, and it is financially and politically independent, thus making it open to the world. The school believes in an open philosophy, allowing students to apply, regardless of their cultural and ethical background. Prospective students can expect to be taught in a welcoming, warm and multicultural learning environment, perfect for students to enrich their knowledge. In 1971, Bocconi started the SDA Bocconi School of Management which specializes in MBA, specialized Master Programmes and Open Enrolment/Customized Executives Education. But Bocconi also delivers undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate education, as well as a wide range of double-degree programmes in the fields of economics, management, finance, law, political science and public administration. The programmes are all internationally oriented. The research university also receives funding for its projects from national and international institutions. The university is made up of five schools: the Undergraduate School, Graduate School, Law School, PhD School and SDA Bocconi School of Management. What makes Bocconi special, is its activities for high school students, including mathematics competitions, Model United Nations and other events to help high school students orienting during their secondary education. The school strives to educate students through innovative teaching methods, in order to best prepare its student for their high-level future roles in management positions. Bocconi graduates are well-equipped with the necessary skills to succeed in their future endeavours, may those be professional or personal. Due to this, graduates are highly employable- the alumni community consists of over 100,000 former students who live and work in industries across the globe.
