I have the greatest time here at Berkeley. The lecturers and content quality for computer science is unmatched. The same goes for most other STEM majors. The opportunities also given here at Berkeley are incredible. Whether you are looking to make connections to break into a certain industry or planning on finding investors for a startup, this is the place to be. All of this comes at no expense on the student life experience. The community here is vibrant with all types of clubs and organizations.
That being said, coming here, I would be wary of the safety of the area. The campus is surrounded by all types of crime and there is a huge homeless crisis. The university staff however, do try their best to enforce safety and security measures, yet they are not entirely successful. But what is a little fun without some dane :).
