Pomona College is, without doubt, an excellent institution. It fulfills its role as a liberal arts college, promoting the student’s strengths in several fields and the Los Angeles campus, with sun year round, makes for a beautiful experience.
There are, however, other liberal arts colleges that do not ask as much of the students. The grading at Pomona College is extremely tough. Although students are not competitive amongst themselves, it takes a lot to stand out.
The departments are not strong across the board, but there are without doubt some important academics in each department.
I felt cared for as a student and most of my professors genuinely cared about my progress. I developed several close bonds to my professors over the years.
The students were also incredibly smart and overall a great bunch of people.
A great experience, but not for the faint of heart.
